Ends: 10:30pm (duration is about 2 hours)

We will be linking up with Dave Eagle and the Virtual Astronomy Club to watch the Live launch of the Dragon Crew spacecraft.

LIVE EVENT. TONIGHT. 27th May 2020. From 21:00.

Doug & Bob’s Accelerant Adventure.
Join us online at the Virtual Astronomy Club to witness live the launch of The Falcon 9 Rocket from Cape Canaveral Launch Pad 39A.
Atop the rocket will be astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken.

This will be the first crewed mission from US soil since Atlantis last launched in July 2011, so is very exciting to see people starting to reach out into the universe much more from US soil after almost a decade.

Join The Virtual Astronomy Club online to watch and experience the launch together.

We should be able to step outside before 21:20 to see the ISS go across the UK skies, but it will still be fairly bright out there.

Then we’ll regather in the club to watch the launch live as a group.
I will be staying online in the Virtual Astronomy Club throughout from my shed.

About 15 minutes after the launch we’ll step outside to hopefully witness Crew Dragon passing over the UK. Then we’ll re-convene to chat about what we’ve seen.

I’ll also be live-streaming images of The Moon to fill in any gaps.
We’ll also link up with Paul Blakesley, who is planning to go live on Facebook from his garden in Essex.

We might also try linking to Astro Radio if possible.

This should be a real fun evening.

FYI, the Crew Dragon is due to dock with the ISS tomorrow at 16:39 BST.

Weather has improved since yesterday and it’s currently showing a 60% chance of launch.
