The 12th April is International Day of Human Spaceflight, that celebrates the anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s historic launch (1961) and the launch of the first space shuttle (1981).

2021 is a special anniversary of these events as it is 60 and 40 years respectively since these events took place.
To mark these events we will go through the history that led up to the first historic flight by Yuri in Vostok I.

**The Space Shuttle is not forgotten and will have it’s own meeting dedicated to it at the end of June, which coincides with the 10th Anniversary of its last flight.
